Moment Gone
by Judy Seicho Fleischman
There is nothing
I would deny you
for this moment
then the moment's gone.
Nothing left with which
to scold you
just this moment
then it's gone.
Heaven and earth
kiss before you
in this moment
gone gone gone.
This waiting game
needn't be dreary
shifting as you go
moving
slowing
speeding
with time on your side,
turning ball aflame,
desire quenching
its own thirst
cannot consume
what love creates.
Two meet,
shift into one,
embrace completely
for a moment,
one blissful moment,
one spectacular moment,
having tasted
drunk
inhaled
conceived
revealed
reviled
despised
despaired
retrieved
regained
released
resolved
sustained
satisfied
hunger
thirst
longing
craving
ceasing
allowing
flowing
this moment
being
becoming
what it is
shimmering
fading
dissipating
gone
gone.
When all is said
and done,
a moment
is just a moment
knowing
unknowing
listening
watching
waiting.
The game is child's play
easy to sing along
following
one dot
connecting
one dot
trusting
one dot
painting
patterns
emerging
forgetting
reasons
seasons
turning
time
becoming
one
moment
there it is
gone.
